Haven’t watched any of it, but it’s a shame they’re using a Mazdaspeed Miata for this. Unless the original engine was trashed or something, hence the swap?

Yeah. He comments on it in the beginning. The car looks absolutely perfect.

He says he’s trying to keep the soul of the car intact.

:(

Just go and grab any of the other non-limited production FACTORY TURBO CARS out there instead.

Yeah. And it’s in the prettiest color even.

I mean... he found a limited production car in perfect conditions with the best color to do that... At least he’s doing a great job, and it’s satisfying to see him work so well, but at the same... why not basically any other Miata since he’ll have to address most parts that made that one great. I’m currently watching part 4. I wonder if he’s going to ditch the suspension too, because of the extra weight.

I’ve been keeping up with this. Great videos. One thing I can’t stop thinking about while watching it is how much longer it must be taking him to get it done by making videos at the same time. I mean, I’m glad he’s doing it, and they’re fantastic, but I definitely wouldn’t have the patience.

Toms Turbo Garage is a fascinating youtube channel. He’s gotten much better with this Miata swap. It is very professional. I can’t remember how I found the channel first but his other builds are worth a watch.

Like others, I griped a little bit about the loss of a MSM but when it comes down to it they just are not worth it. I’d rather get a 5 speed NB and then put the saved money into the turbo setup for more power and reliability with gearing that isn’t so damn short.

Because he obviously has a huge ass budget from this obvious Summit sponsorship, why not blow it all on doing it nice? This build would be completely, 100% the same with a ragged out 99, but why the fuck would you buy one of those when you have a huge budget?

Nope. The MSM donor looked pristine. It could’ve come off the showroom floor yesterday for how it looks.

He’s just got the budget, and like so often with people with money, they’re going to start with a high optioned car, remove everything that made that car unique from the factory, and rebuild it back up. It’s the same shit with people who take EM Si Civics and then do engine swaps. Why the fuck would you get an Si just to remove the only thing that mattered out of the car? Just get a DX! Fuck.

I hate people.

I don’t think that huge budget was so big that $10k was chump change.

nope, just a power plant frame that connects the transmission to the diff.
